Sprinkler Insurance
Sprinklers are one of the most damaged pieces of farm
equipment, resulting in some of the highest rates of filed claims on
Farm and Ranch Insurance policies. Insurance companies are examining
more closely the frequency of claims filed, not the amount or kind of
claim, with the risk of cancellation increasing with every claim submitted.
Removing sprinklers from the Farm and Ranch policy and insuring them
separately is the soundest financial decision to make. This action provides
greater coverage on the pivots and will hopefully prolong the length
of the Farm & Ranch policy while reducing the premium due to fewer
or no submitted losses.
We sell two (2) kinds of Sprinkler Insurance policies, a Replacement
Cost policy and a Stated Value policy.
The
Replacement Cost policy is available for pivots twenty-four
(24) years of age and younger. Coverage is 100 percent of the full replacement
cost of the insured property. The policy covers damage to the sprinkler
resulting from “Acts of God” perils, such as hail, fire,
lighting, flood, wind and tornado. The policy also covers such perils
as vandalism, collision with farm implements and mechanical/electrical
failure. Most Farm and Ranch Insurance policies do not cover vandalism,
flood, collision with farm implements and mechanical/electrical failure.
The Stated Value policy is available
for pivots between the ages of twenty-five (25) to twenty-nine (29)
years. The stated value is determined upfront. Perils of loss covered
under this policy are: overturn due to wind, lighting, hail, flood and
fire. This is a companion to the Replacement Cost policy designed to
cover those pivots that do not meet the requirements under the twenty-four
(24) years of age limit. Claims will be settled based on the cost to
repair or the stated value of the policy, whichever is less. Sprinklers
must be inspected and approved by Diversified Agrisurance Company before
the policy application will be accepted.
Together Diversified Agrisurance and Sonnenberg Agency, LLC are a great
combination. More and more producers have discovered that insuring their
sprinklers on a separate policy is the best decision. Contact Sonnenberg
Agency, LLC to find out why this is the best decision for you.
