Homeowners Insurance
Homeowners Insurance is a necessity for any homeowner. Most financial
lending institutions require insurance as a condition of the loan agreement.
A Homeowners Insurance policy it is an excellent way to protect any
valuable assets. Homeowners Insurance also protects against a wide range
of potential disasters. Policies not only provide protection against
disasters such as flood, fire, vandalism and theft of property, but
they also provide protection against lawsuits if someone is injured
while on the owner's property. Additional coverage for other events
and perils may exist and will be outlined in the policy. A commonality
between all insurances is the importance of knowing what is covered
by your policy; Homeowners Insurance is no exception. Equally important
is knowing your rights as a consumer and an insured.
All Homeowners Insurance policies start with same basic coverages,
endorsements that are added increase the coverage. Endorsements can
be added to cover almost any additional item of value. Endorsements
exist for almost anything that needs to be covered, it is these endorsements
that make each policy unique to the policyholder. The question to be
asked with regards to endorsements is, “What needs to be covered
and how much am I willing to pay?” There are exclusions (items
and perils that are not covered) in each Homeowners Insurance policy
and endorsements also exist and can be added to include coverage on
the exclude items or perils.
When insuring a home, it should be insured for the total amount it
would cost to rebuild the home if it were destroyed. If insufficient
insurance exists on the home, the insurance company will only pay a
portion of the total cost to replace or repair the damaged items. Insuring
a home for anything less than the replacement cost is risky.
Auto Insurance
Auto Insurance is required in all states. Like all other insurance,
Auto Insurance is designed to be asset protection. Attempting to operate
on state minimum required insurance is very dangerous. Also, if an automobile
is financed, the lender may require comprehensive and collision insurance
as a condition of the loan agreement. Auto Insurance is a necessary
and worthwhile investment.
Many levels of coverage are available for Auto Insurance, although
purchasing the required State Minimum level of insurance is not recommended.
Liability only coverage is also available, but remember, it only covers
the damage you inflict upon someone else or their property (property
including automobiles). This coverage is mostly purchased on older vehicles
that have a low value. Typically this level of coverage is not allowed
for vehicles with outstanding loans, the financial lending institution
will require Full Coverage.
